Gulf Ship to add over 200 new jobs in Gulfport

A shipbuilder in Gulfport will soon create more than 200 new jobs to accommodate a new contract.

Gulf Ship is a 38 acre shipyard located on Glascock Drive and used for the construction and maintenance of tugboats and platform supply vessels.

The job expansion comes as the shipyard begins a project to build state of the art tugboats for oil operations.

Improvements to the boat launching facility and waterfront area will be made as a result of the expansion and the Mississippi Development Authority will also provide assistance in this effort.
