Gulf Coast Winter Classics begin at Harrison County Fairgrounds
The Gulf Coast Winter Classics kicked off at the Harrison County Fairgrounds on Thursday.
Each year, equestrians from across the country come to the Coast to compete in a range of individual competitive events.
The show is open to the public for free Wednesday through Sunday each week. The best time to come is Sunday afternoons at 2 to see the Grand Prix event.
Get there early to get a good seat and parking spot. Gulf Coast Winter Classics President Bob Bell said, “I’m really excited to be here for our 28th visit to the Gulf. It’s a beautiful day here and the horses are showing they love this bit of cool weather to get everything started. I’m really excited. This is going to be a good year for us. We have six weeks of showings ahead of us. We are here until the end of March. The last weekend of March is when we finish up. We show Wednesday to Sunday each week. Every Sunday we have a Grand Prix. Everyone should come out and watch.”
The projected economic impact of the Winter Classics is $42 million. For more information on the Gulf Coast Winter Classics, click here.
