Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System earns high marks in quality rankings

The Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System in Biloxi has earned a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Hospital Quality Ratings.

The score is based off of five categories, including mortality, safety of care, re-admission, patient experience, and timely care.

The healthcare system also pointed to some improvements they made over the past year, including a new lung cancer screening program at the Biloxi VA, the Park A Prescription program, and improvements in healthcare virtual reality systems.

Aside from our local system, 77 percent of VA hospitals received a four- or five-star rating as part of this year’s rankings.
