Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra hosting Sounds by the Sea Memorial Concert
The Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra is gearing up to put on a show this Memorial Day weekend.
The annual Sounds by the Sea Memorial Concert will be taking over Jones Park this Saturday. It’s a patriotic-pops concert in remembrance of those who lost their lives serving the military and to honor those still living today.
This year, the Grammy award winning band New Orleans Nightcrawlers will be first to grace the stage starting at 6 p.m., followed by the Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra at 7:30 p.m.
Will Shurley, chairman of the Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra Board, says the concert is a way of giving back. “The symphony believes that this is a wonderful community and we certainly appreciate and we celebrate the military community that is here. We also think it’s important to make the arts accessible to anyone who would like to participate.”
There will also be food trucks available during the show and fireworks after the concert.
