Gulf Coast Oyster Cook-off and Festival took place in Biloxi this weekend
The Gulf Coast Oyster Cook-off and Festival took over Point Cadet Plaza in Biloxi for its sixth year over the weekend.
The block party drew a huge turnout in the wake of COVID as everyone was ready to spend time with friends in the sun. A bright blue sky made for the perfect cook-out weather.
Food and music weren’t the only entertainment as Corvette collectors showed off their American classics in a lot nearby.
James Louis, owner of Wholly Fire Foods in Hattiesburg, told News 25 how events like this help small businesses. “It’s super important for small businesses to get together, because if we’re not supported by the community, it’s small businesses in truth that support the community. Most jobs are not created by big businesses — most jobs are created by small businesses. Especially since COVID has hit, more and more small businesses are opening up, because people are realizing, ‘Hey, we can do this ourselves.’”
The crew from the Walton and Johnson Radio Show was also there to greet fans.
