Gulf Coast Equality Festival takes place in Biloxi

Crowds gathered on Harrah’s Great Lawn in Biloxi for the annual Gulf Coast Equality Festival.

The festival is put on by members of the LGBTQ+ community and allies and aims to unify while celebrating diversity.

Attendees enjoyed the live entertainment, food, drink, craft vendors, and drag shows.

News 25 spoke with Miss Gulf Coast Pride 2022, Catastrophe Nicole Knight. She believes these events are essential for creating a positive, safe space for individuals to be themselves and support others. “I don’t necessarily have the support I would like from my own family. So, we in our community create our own family, create our chosen family. So, these people here become my family because I have a lack of support from my own. So, the Equality Festival brings it all together and it’s not targeted to one specific group of people.”

Organizers were thankful for this year’s turnout. It’s the Equality’s Festival’s second year in person after having it virtually because of COVID.
