Gulf Coast community supports Buddy Cruise Charity Golf Tournament

The Gulf Coast community is coming together to support a golf tournament that’s bigger than themselves!

For the first time, Mississippi is hosting their inaugural Buddy Cruise Charity Golf event! Buddy Cruise provides educational opportunities and resources for families while promoting awareness, advocacy, and inclusion for individuals with special needs.

This mission is important to many on the Coast including Pass Christian Mayor Jimmy Rafferty.  “I just think it’s a great thing to raise awareness for those with special needs. I have a grandnephew named Micah who has Down Syndrome, and just seeing the community come together to benefit people like that is just a wonderful thing.”

The tournament is a four-man scramble, but any groups less than four are more than welcome. Registration is $160 per golfer.

This event will take place on May 19th at the Oaks Club in Pass Christian. Assistant Golf Professional Cole Baggett said, “We’re super excited. When Mika came to me to host this Buddy Cruise event, we were super excited to jump on it to spread awareness and we just need people to play! It’s a great event, and it’s going to be a lot of fun.”

The tournament isn’t just for golfers, it’s for anyone willing to make a difference. The Biloxi Shuckers have already created two teams to compete in this special tournament. Shuckers Community Relations and Membership Services David Blackwell said, “We have an opportunity to invest time and energy with people who are truly making a difference, and anytime we can work with people who are working with other people with different abilities, that’s just a privilege for us, and we want to be around those people, we want to help as much as we possibly can, and we want to invest our resources in anything like that.”
