Gulf Coast Bicycle Club holds Southern Magnolia 100 Ride

Muggy weather did not stop the Gulf Coast Bicycle Club from hosting their 13th annual Southern Magnolia 100 Ride on Sunday.

The ride was held from the Success Community Center in Saucier on School Road to Flint Creek and back.

About 300 riders of all levels participated in the various paths available to them. These paths included lengths of 12,25,40,56,62, and 100 miles.

Riders were split into two groups. Over 100 riders participated in the 100-mile trail.

Former USM Quarterback and NFL Hall of Famer Brett Favre attended the event as well. Angie Holmes with the Gulf Coast Bicycle Club said, “If people can’t run, they can maybe get on the bike. It’s not that expensive. I mean, it can be expensive, depending on how much you pay for your bike, but we’re just trying to get people to move and to get out and enjoy riding with other people and get healthy.”

When the riders completed their trail ride, they were given finisher medals, t-shirts, and lunch.
