Guests celebrate at Lynn Meadow’s 25th birthday bash
The first children’s museum in Mississippi is celebrating 25 years of inspiring youth to dream big!
Lynn Meadows Discovery Center opened its big blue doors to the public in 1998 and has since inspired the next generation of engineers, doctors, and many other professions.
Saturday’s birthday party kicked off with a ribbon cutting commemorating 25 years of shaping minds through education and the arts.
Guests were treated to a day full of activities, vendors, and the museum.
Co-Founder Carole Lynn Meadows says the community’s continuing support is why the discovery center exists. “You know, we couldn’t have done it had the community not bought into the idea. Rose and I went to every organization on the Mississippi Gulf Coast to tell them what a children’s museum does, what it would mean to a community, and they bought in, and when they bought in, we were going to be successful.”
In April 2016, Lynn Meadows Discovery Center was awarded the National Medal for Museum and Library Service, the highest honor a museum can receive.
