Grow your green thumb at the Community Garden in Gulfport
Since 2017, the 34th Street Wholistic Garden and Education Center has provided Coast residents with green space for them to unearth the magic of gardening.
They allow the public to participate by renting out grow boxes or as Executive Director James Franklin calls them ‘little farmhouses.’
It’s $25 for the whole season and staff is on site to help in every step of the way.
Franklin has been gardening for over 50 years and loves being able to grow his own food and the other health benefits. “You get healthy by eating better, but also the work. There’s bending, there’s pulling, there’s squatting and the sunshine.”
They also have informative classes for new and experienced gardeners every Saturday at 9 a.m. They’re located at 808 34th Street in Gulfport.
