Ground Zero Museum in Biloxi opens Discovery Alley
The Waveland Ground Zero Hurricane Museum held a grand opening today for a new section of the museum.
After realizing the museum does not have many features for children, the museum’s management team decided to turn an unused hallway into Discovery Alley.
This new attraction features plenty of interactive activities for children to learn about natural disasters such as i-spy games, scavenger hunts, and even a hurricane wind simulator.
Museum Board Chairman Bernie Cullen says she is excited to give kids an opportunity to learn the history of natural disasters such as Katrina in a creative way. “When you think about it, Katrina was so many years ago that most of the kids then are young adults now, so this is a nice way to engage younger children have them understand it… not be afraid but kind of respect Mother Nature.”
The ribbon cutting was made possible through the Hancock Chamber of Commerce.
