Greyhounds and Friends: big fundraiser on the beach
Calling all Greyhounds! Ocean Springs High School alumni are having a huge reunion bash and everyone is invited.
Rain or shine, a barbecue bonfire concert will be reuniting all classes of Ocean Springs High School graduates on Front Beach Saturday and it’s a party for a good cause.
Michael Pleasant with Pleasant’s Barbecue will be serving up plates for donations to help the family of Sophia Myers, a little girl from Ocean Springs battling a brain tumor.
There will be a live music concert and a tent set up. Event Coordinator Joel Embry Jr. says he’s talked to Greyhounds from seven different states that are coming home for the event. “It’s worth coming to because we’re supporting a little girl who is in the hospital. It’s worth coming to because part of the proceeds also go to Disability Connection and Disability Connection wants to put five more pieces of equipment for intellectually disabled children in the Ocean Springs Children’s Park. Greyhounds love to come home and love to give back to the community they love.”
The party will be across from Fort Maurepas Park from 6 to 10 Saturday night. Embry says everyone is welcome to come out, just bring an umbrella and a smile.
