Great Biloxi Schooner Mayor’s Cup

A few of our Coastal mayors will go head to head on the water this weekend for the Great Biloxi Schooner Mayor’s Cup.

On Saturday, June 1st come and check out this regatta as the 2018 champion D’Iberville Mayor Rusty Quave challenges Biloxi Mayor FoFo Gilich.

The event starts at noon from the Schooner Pier on Point Cadet in Biloxi through the channel just past the lighthouse.

The Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum will partner up with the Biloxi Bay Area Chamber of Commerce to make sure the regatta continues to get bigger and better every year. Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum Outreach Coordinator Corey Christy said, “I think it just builds on interest. It really plays on the history of the city. The schooners are such a big part of Biloxi and the seafood industry. They really carried the industry for so long until motors came along to change everything. It’s just something people can connect to.”

This year, the regatta falls on the same weekend as the Blessing of the Fleet. The trophy presentation will take place Saturday evening.
