Gray over the Bay bridge walk to raise awareness for brain cancer
May is the national month of recognition for brain cancer, but many times this form of cancer is overlooked.
To help raise awareness and show support for those living with brain cancer and remember those who have passed away, supporters gathered together on Saturday morning to walk/run over the Ocean Springs/ Biloxi bay bridge in celebration of the annual “Gray over the Bay” event.
Event Organizer Amanda Fosnacht started this event eight years into her brother’s fight with brain cancer.
She tells News 25 although her brother is gone she wants to continue to fight and raise awareness for this deadly illness. ‘”My aunt also died from brain cancer as well. The biggest thing was also all the children in our area that have had brain cancer and have passed from it. There’s nothing you can say or do to a parent that’s lost a child. This was my way of giving back to them by honoring the people we have lost.”
All proceeds raised go towards the National Brain Tumor Society.
