Grant funds announced to help seafood industry in 25 states and territories
The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced $50 million in grant funds to help the seafood industry in 25 states and territories including Mississippi.
The Consolidated Appropriations Act passed in December 2020 and Congress set aside a COVID-19 emergency relief portion.
Each state is set to receive at least $200,000 in funding.
State agencies can help companies that operate fishing vessels and processing facilities. Seafood processors and fishing boat owners can apply for funds through their state’s funding agency.
