Grandmother Wants Body Cam Footage Released in Shooting of Six-Year-Old

A grandmother is calling for the release of police body camera footage from the incident last month when authorities say deputy city marshals in central Louisiana opened fire on a car, killing her six-year-old grandson.
Cathy Mardis, of Hattiesburg, is the maternal grandmother of Jeremy Mardis, who died back in October in Marksville, Louisiana. She spoke Thursday outside the courthouse where a grand jury was scheduled to hear evidence on whether to indict the two marshals in the shooting.
Mardis said she hasn’t seen the footage and acknowledged that it could be graphic or disturbing but said it needs to be seen. “It made me physically ill and of course, I had images come into my head of what was on the tape. I thank God the tape is there and the officer had the web camera on or the body cam.”
State police Colonel Mike Edmondson cited the body camera footage when he announced the arrest of the two officers. He called it the most disturbing thing he’s seen.
