Governor Tate Reeves makes campaign stop in Pass Christian
Following the November 1 debate in Jackson, Governor Tate Reeves returned to the Gulf Coast for his final campaign stop in the region before Tuesday’s election.
The event was hosted in Pass Christian by Mayor James Rafferty and attended by many notable Gulf Coast elected officials.
That includes Mayors George Bass of Long Beach, Nancy Depreo of Diamondhead, Mike Favre of Bay St. Louis, and Jay Tripani of Long Beach.
In remarks to his supports, Governor Reeves called the coast a ‘stronghold’ for his campaign and said a high voter turnout on the Gulf Coast would be essential to a Republican victory.
Asked about Wednesday’s debate, Governor Reeves expressed confidence and doubled down on his claims about his opponent’s campaign.
“Well look, I feel very good after the debate, because my opponent never once tried to even argue that he’s taken eighty percent of his money from California, New York, and Washington DC. Those folks that have given him money, it’s not charity,” said Governor Reeves. “They don’t just want to change the governor. They want to change Mississippi. And it’s up to the people of the Mississippi Gulf Coast to say, “No thank you, Mr. Presley. We don’t want Mississippi to be more like California. We don’t want Mississippi to be more like New York.”
Frank Bordeaux, chair of the Mississippi Republican Party, claimed Democratic candidate Brandon Presley received up to $10 million in out-of-state contributions.
