Governor Tate Reeves appoints new board members to Harrison County Development Commission

Gulfport, Mississippi (October 1, 2021) — The Harrison County Development Commission announces two new Board of Commissioners appointees by Governor Tate Reeves: John Carter, Licensed Realtor at Century 21 J. Carter & Company, and James Moody, Vice President/Employee Benefits Consultant at BXS Insurance (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bancorp South Bank).
Their 2-year board term begins October 2021.
“I appreciate John and James stepping up to help promote and develop Harrison County,” said Governor Tate Reeves. “I have no doubt that they will be an asset to the Board of Commissioners and effective in their new roles.”
Born and raised on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, John Carter possesses a broad understanding of the region, as a resident as well as business person.
Before his real estate career, he was President of the Mississippi Coast Coliseum Board of Directors, a former commissioner with tourism and a business development executive in gaming. Now in its 5th year, he founded the Carter’s Champions Pink Dress Run with 100% of the annual proceeds donated to the Memorial Hospital Foundation.
“Having worked in the hospitality industry since an early age, I have been blessed to learn a lot about the Coast and believe that maintaining great relationships and giving back are paramount.”
James Moody is a Gulfport native and holds a BA in History from The University of Southern Mississippi and Master’s in Public Administration from Louisiana State University.
Prior to joining the insurance industry, he was a Legislative Aide to the late U.S. Senator Thad Cochran and worked in Washington. D.C. Moody is an Executive Board member of the Boys and Girls Club of the Gulf Coast, United Way of South Mississippi, and currently volunteers for local non-profits.
“I am honored to have been selected by Governor Reeves to assist in the ongoing growth and development of Harrison County and the Mississippi Gulf Coast.”
