Governor Reeves signs bill regulating electric vehicle sales

The governor signed a bill to regulate the sale of electric vehicles in Mississippi.

House Bill 401 requires electric car manufacturers to sell their vehicles through franchised dealerships in Mississippi rather than company-owned stores.

Some of the largest EV companies, including Tesla and Rivian, currently sell vehicles through company-owned facilities.

The new law does not place any restrictions on Mississippian’s buying EVs online and the state’s only Tesla store in Brandon will be allowed to remain open under this bill.
