Governor Reeves says August COVID-19 numbers show improvement
Governor Tate Reeves today praised Mississippians in helping slow the spread of COVID-19.
Reeves said it is nice to see that the numbers are showing gradual improvement in August. He mentioned the seven-day rolling average peaked July 30th at 1,361 cases and the number is at 932, a 30 percent drop in new cases on average in a seven-day rolling period. “When you look at what happened four weeks ago, our seven day average was 1,029 cases. Three weeks ago, and all of these are actually Tuesday to Monday since we got this morning’s data. Four weeks ago was 1,029 cases on a seven day average. Three weeks ago it peaked at 1,295 cases. Two weeks ago, that number was 1,166 cases. As of today, in the last week, that number is now finally below 1,000 and at 932 cases per day on a seven day rolling average.”
Reeves’ executive order for a statewide mask mandate will last until August 17th.
