Governor Reeves announces Gulf Coast Advisory Committee

Governor Tate Reeves was in Diamondhead today, announcing appointments to the Governor’s Gulf Coast Advisory Committee.

The committee will ultimately make recommendations to the governor for Restore Act Projects funding.

The Gulf Coast Restoration Fund Advisory Board consists of seven members representing tourism, infrastructure, eco-restoration, and others.

According to Governor Reeves, under the Restore Act alone Mississippi has allocated approximately $350 million with over 50 projects currently in progress. “This year alone Mississippi will allocate approximately 72 million dollars in Restore Act Dollars towards restoration projects. Each of the Governor’s Gulf Coast Advisory Committees 7 subcommittees will be asked to recommend between 10 and 15 million dollars’ worth of projects for funding to further the recovery process.”

Governor Reeves tell News 25 he looks forward to spending the restore funds on the Coast for improvement projects like water quality in the Gulf of Mexico and economic development.
