Governor declares state of emergency ahead of winter weather

Gov. Tate Reeves declared a state of emergency for Mississippi ahead of the arctic weather moving in.

Freezing temperatures, snow, freezing rain and ice are expected to move in starting Sunday and continuing through Wednesday statewide.

In his declaration, Reeves said the weather poses a threat to the life and safety of state residents.

He instructed all state agencies to implement their emergency plans.
