Government Street Paving Project scheduled to begin Tuesday

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WXXV)- After a summer pause, the Government Street Paving Project in Ocean Springs will resume this week, creating detours, parking restrictions, and some lane closures.

The Government Street Paving Project in Ocean Springs is scheduled to begin at about 9 a.m. Tuesday, August 5 and is expected to last about one week.

Despite the lane closures and construction activity, all Government Street and downtown businesses will remain open.

Sidewalks will stay accessible throughout the project and signage will help guide foot traffic to shop and restaurant entrances.

No parking will be allowed along either side of Government Street between Washington and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.

The intent is to improve travel flow in the downtown area.

If you’re planning to travel downtown during the week, consider using Washington Avenue or side streets as alternate routes.
