Golden Eagles Prepare for 2016 Season

We are less than 48 hours away from the first Saturday of the college football season and the Southern Miss Golden Eagles will travel to Lexington to play the Kentucky Wildcats.
USM is used to facing SEC match ups to start their season, but with a new coach and a lot of young talent being worked into the Golden Eagles new system, fans are wondering if the team can maintain the momentum that took them to the Conference USA title game in 2015.
Coach Jay Hopson addressedthe impact young players will be making on the field this season. “That’s what we have to do. Some of those young guys will play and that’s the reality of it. We’ll do what we have to in those regards and we won’t make any adjustments as far as personnel.”
Golden Eagles defensive lineman DeMarrio Smith said, “Couple days of camp, I started to get used to things. After I got in pads and started hitting with them guys, I feel like if I can go against them, I can go against anybody.”
The Golden Eagles take on the Kentucky Wildcats this coming Saturday at 6 p.m.
