GivHer Circle hosts the ‘art of the ask’ event

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)-The Gulf Coast Community Foundation’s GivHer Circle hosted an event called ‘the art of the ask’ at Neighbors Tap and Table in Downtown Gulfport.

The event featured a panel of local women who shared their experiences and lessons learned about finding their voices, asking for opportunities, and claiming their seat at the table.

It gave women the chance to connect, build relationships, and expand their networks.

The event also kicks off the season of GivHer Circle grant making. Gulf Coast Community Foundation President Christen Duhe said, “The ladies join, there’s a fee, and the money that we bring in from that goes to give out grants to our nonprofits in our community. The past two years, we’ve given out two $ 20,000 grants. This year we’re gonna give $40,000 out to two different organizations at our donor appreciation breakfast in October. So, women that are philanthropy minded, that want to give back to their community, it’s giving collectively instead of by yourself. You have a much larger impact that way. And so, we’re just offering an opportunity for women to get together, and give back, and support their community.”
