Girl Scout Troop 3581 participating in Questfest

A local Girl Scout troop is having a great time in the name of an even better cause.

This Saturday, Troop 3581 is participating in Questfest, a virtual scavenger hunt app for Girl Scout troops around the country.

When the app goes live Saturday, there is a limited amount of time to complete quests which are challenges the girls finish to earn points.

The three teams with the most points win cash prizes. If they win, Troop 3581 will use the money to purchase playground equipment and improve Trentwood Park in Ocean Springs in honor of their fellow Girl Scout Sophia Myers who passed away in 2017 at the age of seven from DIPG, a rare type of brain cancer. “It makes me feel great that her family is going to get to see how much dedication and love we give to her, their daughter who passed away, sadly.”

“Doing such a big thing for a person we loved so much, it feels good.”

Troop leader Jenny Carroll said, “The fact that they can draw from their own personal experiences to put that back into community and leave a permanent footprint in the community in a positive way is what Girl Scouts is all about.”

The girls successfully checked off a question on the list with the help of News 25, a TV appearance and social media post.
