Gift giveaway puts a bow on Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program

The local Salvation Army is wrapped up its annual Angel Tree program Tuesday in Jackson County with their gift distribution at the Jackson County Civic Center.

Organizers said they saw an increase in Angel Tree registrations, but were able to accommodate the larger numbers and provide gifts for all the families that signed up for the program.

Volunteers directed traffic and delivered sacks of goodies to each vehicle that drove through.

Familiar faces return each ear to volunteer for the program, as they enjoy being a Santa’s helper.

For Lt. Carla Lawson, it’s about repaying the kindness. When she was a child, she was an angel and received Christmas gifts from the Salvation Army’s program.
