Get ready for a hot weekend with spotty storm chances

A few isolated showers and thunderstorms will remain possible this evening before skies gradually become partly cloudy overnight. Temperatures will only fall into the upper 70s, making for another warm and muggy night across South Mississippi.

Saturday will be mostly sunny and hot, with afternoon highs climbing into the mid 90s. When you factor in the humidity, it will feel more like 106 degrees during the hottest part of the day. If you’ll be spending time outdoors, be sure to stay hydrated, take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning, and never leave children or pets inside parked vehicles.

Most of the weekend will stay dry, but scattered showers and thunderstorms will become possible late Saturday night into Sunday. While not everyone will see rain, any storm that develops could produce heavy downpours, frequent lightning, and brief gusty winds.

Looking ahead to next week, the overall weather pattern changes very little. Expect mostly sunny mornings followed by a slight chance of isolated afternoon thunderstorms each day. High temperatures will remain around 93 degrees through Friday, with warm, humid nights in the mid 70s.
