Georgia and Notre Dame Head Coaches take the podium for Sugar Bowl Media Day
We are nearing the new year and continuing our coverage of the College Football Playoffs as both Georgia and Notre Dame have officially landed in New Orleans for the 2025 All-State Sugar Bowl.
The Fighting Irish and Bulldogs will meet January first at the Caesar Superdome for the College Playoff Quarterfinal at the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
The ranked seven Notre Dame defeated Indiana 27-17 in round one, advancing to the quarterfinals against ranked number two Georgia who earned a first round bye.
Both teams landed Sunday, making today their first full day in the big easy which started off with a media day and continued with open practices for both squads.
Here’s what Georgia Head Coach Kirby Smart and Notre Dame Head Coach Marcus Freeman had to say at their press conference earlier today ahead of the big matchup.
“It’s something we often talk about in our program and it’s at the end of the day, it’s not going to be about tricking your opponent,” said Marcus Freeman. “It’s going to be about playing with velocity which equals violence and some other physical attacking words.”
“You have to do everything you can. It’s win or go home,” said Kirby Smart. “There is no measure of, ‘Well I’ve got to be conservative on this or conservative on that. I don’t think either coordinator will be holding back because they’re worried about the next game. They’re going to do whatever they have to do to win this game, and if Gunnar or Riley had to run the ball 30 times to win the game, I think both would do that.”
The Sugar Bowl festivities will continue tomorrow with a New Years Eve parade rolling at 2:00pm through the French Quarter. Tune into WXXV News 25 on Wednesday all day long for game day coverage from our Sports Team.
