George County softball drops second game of MHSAA 6A State Championship
HATTIESBURG, Miss (WXXV) — George County softball fell just short of a big win in Wednesday’s second game of the MHSAA 6A State Championship.
The Lady Rebels lost a tough contest to Neshoba Central, 7-6, to force a winner-take-all game three for the title.
After a thrilling 4-1 victory on Tuesday, George County was looking to sweep the series and win its second title in three seasons. The Lady Rebels scored four runs in the fifth inning to jump out to a 6-3 lead, but Neshoba Central added three runs in the top of the sixth inning and the go-ahead run in the seventh to walk away victorious.
George County now looks to take home the championship in the third and final game of the series, which will be played at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Southern Miss Softball Complex.
