George County officials warn of phone scam
GEORGE COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- George County officials are warning the public about a phone scam making the rounds.
The sheriff’s office says scammers are calling people and demanding money for things like ankle monitors, bonds, court fines, or release fees.
No one from the George County Sheriff’s Office or court system will ever call you asking for payment over the phone.
They say those matters are handled through official court proceedings and in person.
If you get one of those calls, do not send money or give out personal information. Instead, hang up and contact law enforcement directly.
