George County, Mobile County combine to end stolen vehicle pursuit

Multiple law enforcement agencies combined forces to stop a pursuit of a suspect in a stolen vehicle.
George County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday regarding a pursuit involving a stolen vehicle out of Jackson County. The pursuit entered George County on Highway 98 westbound and George County joined the pursuit.
As the suspect, 35-year-old Robert Earl Coleman, Jr. of Moss Point, approached the area of Highway 98 and Donavan Road. He left the stolen vehicle and fled on foot. George and Mobile County deputies followed, apprehending Coleman after a brief pursuit.
George County deputies detained Coleman, who was picked up by Jackson County deputies and charged with motor vehicle theft, resisting arrest, public drunk and probation violation. Coleman also is expected to face charges related to eluding law enforcement in Mobile County. At this time, no charges are pending against Coleman in George County.
Coleman was taken to the Jackson County jail. Bond has not been set.
George County Sheriff Mitchell Mixon commended the collaboration between local and out-of-state law enforcement to swiftly resolve the incident.
