George County Middle School issued soft lockdown after incident near campus
GEORGE COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- The George County School District Police Department issued a soft lockdown at the George County Middle School Wednesday morning.
The soft lockdown included a ‘no outside movement’ restriction. The precaution was put into place due to an incident that took place around mid-morning at a location near the campus.
The school restricted all outside movement and increased school resource officer presence in and and around the campus until Lucedale Police Department deemed it safe.
The district says that at no time were students or staff in danger.
In a statement, the School District said, “We greatly appreciate the LPD in their quick response and community between both agencies. We also appreciate the middle school administrators for taking quick and appropriate action. Last, but not least, we appreciate the support and trust the parents and guardians have in us to keep a safe and secure learning environment.”
