George County high school boys soccer eager to win first MHSAA state championship in school history

George County high school athletics has been more than just impressive over the last calendar year – they have been dominant.

The boys soccer team is looking to add to the list of successful Rebel sports as they head to Jackson, MS to face Center Hill in the 6A state championship match on Monday. The Rebels head to Jackson with a 18-4 record while the Mustangs of Center Hill hold a 18-8 overall record.

WXXV sports had the chance to speak with Rebels head coach Tyler Williams about his teams big match on Monday.

It’s just another game,” Williams said. “We pay the same game we have played, play the same system we have been using, we control it and we try to do everything we can control. Control our chances and make the best of those chances. We are proud of all the success we have had. Couldn’t do it without the guys and the work that they have put in.”

WXXV will have full coverage of all six state championship games. Be sure to follow along on social media and on WXXV News 25 for updates throughout the weekend and into Monday.
