George County high school alum McKinnley Jackson sets sights on NFL Draft beginning on Thursday

The NFL Draft is just two days away as players will soon hear their names called and dream will turn into realities. One of those hopeful to hear their name called is former George County high school football star McKinnley Jackson.

Before he was busting up run plays at Texas A&M for the Aggies, McKinnley Jackson was causing chaos in the backfield at George County for the Rebels.

Now, after making a name for himself throughout college football, Jackson is hopeful he will hear his name called during the NFL Draft.

Sports 25 had the chance to speak with Jackson while he was still in Texas as he prepares for what could be one of the biggest days of his life.

“I’ve been dreaming about this since I was four years old, you know, I have been going step by step of just chasing dreams,” said Jackson. “Now it’s becoming a reality. It’s all a blessing and I’m trying to take it in all at one time but, you know, I think there is always going to be more to do. Once my name is called it’s time to get a gold jacket and a couple of rings. I can’t be complacent with what I do in life – I need to keep elevating and going higher and higher. That’s where my mind is with this thing right now.”
