George County boys soccer looking to make history with back-to-back state titles

LUCEDALE, Miss. (WXXV) — George County boys soccer is officially one win away from making program history.

One year ago, the Rebels claimed their first-ever State Championship with a thrilling 1-0 overtime victory against Center Hill. Since the high of that title, the team hasn’t let up any, finishing second in 6A Region 3 standings with an 8-2 district record.

George County knocked off district champion West Jones in South State on Tuesday and are riding a 10 game winning streak into the title game. This year, the Rebels have the chance to do something that few teams have had the opportunity to do: go back-to-back against the same team they beat last year.

The team will face Center Hill at 4 p.m. on Saturday at Germantown High School in Madison.
