George County baseball team hosts autograph party to raise funds towards State Championship rings

It’s been a little less than three months since the George County baseball team won the 6A State Championship, and the City of Lucedale is still celebrating in full force!

This past Saturday, the George County baseball team hosted their first ever State Championship autograph party at Walt Massey in Lucedale. The community was invited to come recognize the team’s success and raise money for their state championship teams.
attendees had the chance to purchase many different items signed by the entire team including baseballs, posters, and customized baseball cards.
The amount of support from the community meant the world to both the players and coaches.

“It was great to get the people of George County together,” said Walt Massey Auto Director of Sales, Brandon Walker. “This is a great event. You look not only this past year, but in years past great talent has come out of George County and it’s just continuing to be bigger and better every year. George County is growing. Some really good things are going on. I was joking with Coach Davis earlier that this is the inaugural event that we’re happy to host at Walt Massey, but we’re going to make it an annual event and come back next year and do it again.”

“This shows you the community support. That so many would come out. Walt Massey sponsored today, then the City of Lucedale, Dennis DeBar our State Representative, and Cricket Wireless all came out,” said Head Baseball Coach Brandon Davis. “It was awesome to have that event here today. You see all the people that came out. Hopefully it will inspire the next generation and motivate us to turn around next year and do the same thing.”

George County will finally get those State Championship rings on Friday, October 18th at halftime of the Rebel football game against Hancock.
