George County athletics director charged with possession, distribution of child porn

The George County athletics director has been charged with possession and distribution of child pornography.
George County Sheriff Mitchell Mixon said his office and the state Attorney General’s Office searched the home of 51-year-old Chris West on Thursday morning.
West was charged with one count each of possession of child porn and distribution of child porn. He was taken to the George County jail and bond was set at $100,000.
The state Attorney General’s Office is the lead agency in the investigation.
“We remain committed to supporting the ongoing investigation and ensuring justice is served,” said Mixon.
“The George County School District has just been made aware of the allegations against Chris West and is fully cooperating with law enforcement in this matter,” said Superintendent Wade Whitney. “The safety and well-being of our students is always our paramount concern. As with any personnel matter, we cannot comment on the specifics of the situation at this time.”
Attorney General Lynn Fitch released a statement saying her office is seeking additional information as part of the investigation.
