Gautier woman bites and shoots attacker
A Jackson, Mississippi man is in serious condition after a domestic dispute ended in gunfire at a motel near Ocean Springs. According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, a Gautier woman shot the man with his own gun and bit him, too.
Authorities say a Gautier woman bit a man and opened fire after he tried to attack her. Sharon Ross has worked at the Ramada Inn on Tucker Road north of Ocean Springs for three years. She says nothing like this has ever happened here. “It was a shock. We wasn’t told anything, we was just told there was a domestic dispute in one of the rooms and that was all we were told.”
Pictured smiling in a previous mugshot here, 33-year-old Tony Piggs of Jackson, Mississippi is in serious condition following this morning’s shooting. Authorities say 39-year-old Gautier resident Adrenia Buxton bit him in the chest and then shot him after Piggs pulled a gun on her. Bernon Evans from Atlanta, Georgia is staying at the motel, rooms away from where the bullet was fired. “It’s shocking but it happens everywhere. You can’t run from that stuff. It don’t bother me, being from Atlanta, I hear it every day.”
Authorities say Buxton and Piggs were having a domestic dispute before their argument escalated and turned violent. “If somebody put a gun to me then, you know, if they dropped it. I probably would have done the same thing. I mean, I don’t know what I would do then again, I might turn around and run,” said Ross.
Right now, Buxton is not charged in the shooting and investigators are waiting to talk to Piggs to get his side of the story. Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell says the case will go before a grand jury.
