Gautier Parks and Rec hosts monthly potluck for seniors
Seniors of Gautier celebrated Mardi Gras during their monthly potluck luncheon.
Parks and Recreation hosts potlucks at the Senior Center in City Park as a way to help seniors come together and have fun.
An average of 20 to 50 seniors attend each month.
The luncheons are free, but seniors are asked to bring at least one dish while the city provides the dessert.
This month, dessert was king cake since the theme was Mardi Gras.
While the seniors ate, a guest speaker from Gautier Public Library talked about all the upcoming events happening through the Jackson County Library. Parks and Recreation Director Chassity Bilbo said, “It’s important because a lot of them, they don’t have a lot to do. It’s just a really good opportunity for them to come out and be with people that are their age.”
The next event will be a paint party held on February 28th at 3 p.m. It’s free for all Gautier seniors to attend.
