Gautier City Council Honors Police & Fireman of the Year
Sgt. Walt Konrad with the Gautier Police Department, and Josh Latch with the Gautier Fire Department, were honored as police and firefighter of the year. While Latch is just starting his career, Konrad is retiring Wednesday after serving for 26 years in the Gautier Police Department. City leaders say both Latch and Konrad have excelled in their jobs and go above and beyond in making the community a better place.
Latch says, “We have lieutenants and captains and stuff like that, but I’m one of the senior firemen right now, and I do teach some of the new guys. We’ve got like four or five new guys that I’ve been helping teaching them the ropes.”
Konrad says, “Every day stands out to me, every day I’ve met some incredible people, some incredible officers, most of them have been right here on the Coast.”
Konrad will be honored at the next city council meeting for his career in law enforcement. Latch looks forward to being a mentor to new firefighters as he continues to grow.
