Gaston Point community collecting gifts for Toys for Tots

For the past six years, employees at Ms. Audrey’s Southern Kitchen and others in the Gaston Point community have been handing out toys to kids for Christmas.

Their first year collecting for Toys for Tots they helped around 50 children. This year, they’re hoping to assist more than 150.

For the staff, some of whom received Toys for Tots as kids, they say they’re thrilled to now be in a position to give back. Terravonda Watson with Toys for Tots said, “Kids are kids. They can’t help the situation that a parent is going through and they don’t understand the situation. So, we try to take the load off. We try to let them know we have you as a community. We need to love one another.”

The Toys for Tots distribution will be happening this Sunday in Gulfport. They’re still accepting toys and clothes. You can drop donations off at Ms. Audrey’s Southern Kitchen.
