Gasoline Spill at Pass Christian Harbor

Mechanical failure caused nearly 50 gallons of diesel fuel to spill onto a dock at Pass Christian Harbor today.
A truck was filling up a tank at the Pass Christian Harbor when the line blew, causing about 45 gallons of fuel to spill onto the pier.
OMI Environmental Solutions was called to the scene to clear up the spill. The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality responded as a precaution although no oil made it into the water. MDEQ On Scene Coordinator Nick Hatten said, “Gasoline tankers fill tanks every day. Unfortunately, hoses blow off and we do have to deal with this from time to time. Had it gone into the water, we would have had skimmers out here and we would have had booms out here to boom it off. Depending on the volume, the Coast Guard and NOAA and the EPA would have also probably been involved.”
Crews were out cleaning up the spill until shortly after noon today.
