Gas Leak in Biloxi

Construction on Division Street in Biloxi was brought to a halt this afternoon when they hit a gas line.
Contractors from CenterPoint Energy were replacing a 4 inch high pressure line on the south side of Division Street and when they put the new gas line down, they struck the old one.
While it was a significant gas leak, according to Jeff Merrill deputy chief of operations with the Biloxi Fire Department, there was no damage to any surrounding residents and it did not affect Cruisin’ traffic for too long. “As they were putting the new line down, they struck the old line which caused a significant gas leak. It’s a 4 inch diameter pipe. It did some damage to the road, the road was closed off for approximately an hour and a half or so,” said Merrill.
Construction is back on track and traffic is moving just fine now.
