Future Of Mardi Gras Night Parade

Ocean Springs Police Chief Mark Dunston calls the call for canceling the Ocean Springs Mardi Gras Night Parade was a miscommunication. Deputy Police Cheif Derek Hoppner addressed the City’s Board of Alderman Tuesday night calling them to cancel the parade saying officers aren’t safe saying crowds have assaulted officers in previous years. Chief Dunston said the parade has his blessing to roll and his officers are equipped to handle the crowd, but says Chief Deputy Hoppner was not out of line in his call to Alderman.
