Funeral services for Jonathan McCommon
The City of Pascagoula came together again at the Arlington Baptist Church for the funeral service of 17-year-old Jonathan McCommon. McCommon was killed in a fatal car accident last Friday.
Like his friend, Blayze Broadus, who was also killed in the car crash, Jonathan was going into his senior year at Pascagoula High School. He played baseball for nine years for the youth league in Pascagoula. He loved to fish, hunt, and play lacrosse.
Jonathan also spent time with youth groups at Ingalls Avenue Baptist Church and Arlington Baptist Church where he went on a mission trip to Guatemala last year. Worship Pastor Robby Myrick said, “It was neat to me how Blayze sort of took him under his wing and buddied up with him. Jonathan to me seemed like the kid that was always thinking. So, with all the stuff going on in the room, he was absorbing and taking it in. The few times I remember Jonathan speaking out in the youth group, he had some very significant things to say.”
Pastor Myrick tells News 25 ‘we know we can’t bring these boys back, but faith assures us we will see them again in Heaven.’
