Funeral arrangements set for former Moss Point Mayor Ira Polk

Moss Point is continuing to mourn the loss of former Mayor and lifelong resident Ira Polk.

A visitation for Polk is set for Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. at the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Moss Point, followed by a service and burial afterwards.

Polk served as mayor from 1993 to 1997, but he was also a football coach, a physician’s assistant, and a member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity.

He passed away Monday just before noon at Singing River Hospital. He was 85-years-old.
