Fundraising for Jubilee Havens
One local human trafficking group has partnered with a local coffee shop in Gulfport to raise awareness and funds for these crimes.
Jubilee Havens is a group on a mission to provide safe havens for victims of human trafficking. Currently they are working to build a home where victim survivors can go.
The Southern Ground Coffeehouse is partnered with Jubilee to bring education of this issue to their customers.
There are multiple ways you can donate at the coffeehouse including tubes you can take home, drop cash in every day, and return later on in the month.
You can also simply come any Tuesday for ‘Jubilee Tuesday,’ where all of the proceeds go back to the cause. Jubilee Havens Founder/CEO Sharon Robbins said, “Brinn, who owns Southern Grounds Coffee Shop here in Gulfport, actually partnered with us. I actually met her last year and we found out what our mission was, Jubilee Havens, and we literally provide safe havens for the victim survivors of human trafficking and we’ve actually been having to send them out because there aren’t beds available in Mississippi.”
They also plan on hosting an event at the end of the month to wrap up ‘Human Trafficking Awareness Month’ on January 31st. The grand finale will be at the coffeehouse in the evening with live music, food trucks, and plenty of fun.
