Fundraiser to be Held for Children of Deceased Single Mom

Just over a month ago, a local woman, Deanna Martin, passed away suddenly, leaving her three children without their mother. The family is reaching out to the community for support by holding a fundraiser in her memory.

The fundraiser will be held in Jones Park in Gulfport Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and there will be plenty to do for families and kids of all ages. Everyone is welcome to come out and enjoy plates of BBQ, raffles for split the pot and prizes, and tailgating games. All proceeds will help offset funeral costs and provide for the children as they go through this difficult time.

Amy Cruise, Deanna’s cousin and Manager of Flower Basket Florist, says, "We want tomorrow to be a fun day for kids, our family, and for the community to come out and have a good time. A fun environment for the kids to get out and see that people care about them, and say that, ‘Wow, this is for my mom,’ and know that people care and they are not alone, and that’s it just to support our family.”

Deanna is survived by her 19 year old daughter and two 7 year old boys.
