Fundraiser For Jamie Lee
The AmVets Post One of Biloxi held a fundraiser for Jamie Lee and her family, who lost their husband in March. Jamie’s husband Hank Lee served as a Marine and suffered from PTSD. He went for treatment to the VA Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts where he later died of inexplicable circumstances. Now, the AmVets, along with American Legion, reached out to help her by cooking up hamburgers and hot dogs in front of the Biloxi Brewing Company on Saturday.
Incoming Commander Of AmVets Post 1 Jim Strzalkowski said, “Jamie Lee has not received any financial support of any kind from the VA. So, some of the local veterans groups like us and the American Legion and Biloxi Brewery are trying to raise some money so she can get through the next couple of months as things start to settle down in her life with the loss of her husband.”
“For them to reach out and help me, honestly, words can’t describe it because I’m just taken back from it because, it’s just amazing. There were times where I was just really down and thought, I can’t do this by myself, I don’t know what I’m going to do, I’m petrified. But then everyone’s pulled together and said no, were going to help you, were not going to let you get kicked out of your house, were not going to have that happen,” said Jamie Lee.
All proceeds will help out Jamie with her mortgage and her three kids. The AmVets will host another fundraiser on June 11th at the American Legion Post.
